Android 4.2: A new flavor of Jelly Bean.

It looks like Android 4.2 might be the Grinch that stole Christmas or a sign 'doomsday' is indeed looming in the coming weeks.

The software update has erased December and the calendar now jumps from November 2012 to January 2013.

"File this one under How did Google not have a test for this?" Android Police reported. "Got a birthday or anniversary in December? Sorry - Android 4.2 doesn't know what December is. Well, rather the People/Contacts app that comes stock and is part of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) doesn't. Wait... what? We couldn't believe it either, but it's true. Google forgot to include December. As in, there are 11 months in a year. January after November. Christmas is ruined. Santa is dead. At least we'll save money on buying presents, right?"

Google said it is tracking the glitch and gave no timeline as to when December will return to the calendar.

The mobile operating system was released last week and is available on Nexus7 and tablets and the Nexus 4 smartphone.

Android said its new system "takes the speed and simplicity of Jelly Bean to a different level - a completely new camera experience that's beyond smart, a new form of typing that helps you power through your messages, and much more."

Android Police said other bugs that users have been reporting include auto-brightness, a basically broken Bluetooth, random reboots/major instability, and extreme battery drain/slow charging.
