A young pregnant woman was brutally murdered by her father in front of her mother. The shocking incident happened Wednesday, July 21, in Dhanbad a city in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

The victim, 20-year-old Khushboo Kumari, who was pregnant, was found lying in a pool of blood on an empty and isolated plot in Govindpur Nawatand, where the father had taken them for a tour.

On Wednesday evening, the suspect, identified as Ram Prasad took his wife and daughter from Jharia township to Govindpur Nawatand on the pretext of showing them a farmland.

Once there, the father reportedly stabbed his pregnant daughter multiple times in the neck with a sharp weapon.

The man fled the scene when his wife began crying for help. The mother later fainted on seeing her daughter’s bloodied lifeless body.

Locals rushed to the spot after hearing the woman’s cries. They alerted the police and officers were dispatched to the crime scene.

Responding officers located the victim’s body and declared her dead. The girl’s body was sent to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

The victim’s mother was transported to a nearby hospital for medical assistance. Once the mother regained her consciousness, she filed a complaint against her husband alleging him responsible for her daughter’s murder.

As per the woman’s complaint, her daughter had got married seven months ago without the consent of her family. The suspect didn’t approve of the marriage as the groom was from a different caste.

Jharia Police Station In-Charge, Inspector Pankaj Kumar Jha, said that a case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint.

He said an investigation is ongoing and a manhunt has been issued to locate and arrest the suspect.
