Looks like the "Arrow" production team is gearing up to take the series plot back to its roots in Season 5. One way of doing this is by introducing a bad guy that challenges team "Arrow" without relying on superpowers and if what lead actor Stephen Amell has recently said is true, then that is exactly what is happening.

In an interview with Variety, Amell discussed a few things that fans of the series have to look forward to in its next season. While he could not disclose exactly who the next big bad would be, he did give fans a few hints. Amell said, "I've heard that our big bad, our villain, is something that you can really only do once you're in the fifth, sixth or seventh season of a TV show."

He claimed to know more but, of course, he declined to reveal exactly how much more. However, he did offer up another hint: "As far as I know, they don’t have superpowers. I’ll tell you that," Amell said.

Furthermore, he also discussed the coming season's crossovers and the general tone of Season 5. He revealed that the fifth season will see the show focus more on Oliver Queen and Team Arrow as opposed to building on the DC universe. While he is looking forward to the epic "Supergirl," "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow" crossover, he did reveal he was much more excited for the show "getting back to its roots."

Meanwhile, we have learned a few casting details regarding Season 5. First up, Green Arrow's first sidekick Roy Harper, who was played by Colton Haynes, will return to help out the team. According to Screen Crush, Haynes appeared at France's Justice squad Convention wherein the former "Arrow" regular was reported as saying, "I get to come back on a few episodes of Arrow next year."

Furthermore, fan-favorite Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) has been promoted to a series regular, with the character most likely working in the Arrow Bunker.

"Arrow" will return in the fall, sometime in October, and remain in the same Wednesday timeslot.
