Trump Coca Cola

Coca-Cola has seemingly caved to a demand from President Donald Trump, changing the recipe for their iconic soda after he campaigned for the alteration online.

The soft drink company is set to launch a version of the iconic soft drink which is made with real cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. The drink will become available in US markets this fall.

The company officially shared "plans to launch an offering made with U.S. cane sugar to expand its Trademark Coca-Cola product range," in a press release.

"This addition is designed to complement the company's strong core portfolio and offer more choices across occasions and preferences," they added.

"I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I'd like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them — You'll see. It's just better!" Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Thursday.

"We're going to bring a Coke sweetened with U.S. cane sugar into the market this fall and I think it will be an enduring option for consumers," Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey said on a post-earnings call Tuesday, July 22. "We are definitely looking use the whole toolbox ... of available sweetening options, to some extent, where there are consumer preferences."

In the United States, the Coca-Cola company uses high fructose corn syrup to sweeten its drinks, as opposed to its product in other nations, such as Mexico, where cane sugar is used as a sweetening agent instead. The difference between Mexican Coke and US Coke is widely discussed, with many arguing that the former tastes better.
