Cristela Alonzo
The Mexican-American comedian honored Selena Quintanilla and Cantinflas in the cutest way possible on "The View." ABC

Cristela Alonzo has been guest co-hosting on "The View" in recent days. The Mexican-American comedian is not new to the panel as she was a frequent presenter last year. At the top of the program, Whoopi Goldberg presented Alonzo and gave her a moment to talk about the pins she was sporting on her vest. "I collect pins and this is part of my tradition," Alonzo said enthusiastically. "This top pin is actually in honor of Selena [Quintanilla], the Mexican-American singer that died 20 years ago and I wear it because I want people to remember what contribution she did. This bottom pin is Cantinflas, a very well-known Mexican comic that changed and revolutionized everything."

Alonzp also had a third pin that was Beyoncé because "it's Beyoncé." "I like wearing pins that people ... Selena and Cantinflas, people don't talk about them on American TV very often," she added. " I want to show them off to show part of my culture, part of who I am." Watch the moment Cristela shows off her pins down below and tell us what you think!

Alonzo has been a breath of fresh air on the talk show as she brings her and the Latino view point to the table that desperately needs it. Donald Trump continues to bash Latinos and his plans on building the wall. It is necessary that someone with Latino heritage is on the panel to show that other side. Sunny Hostin is also Latina and brings that side to the table. She is not a regular on the talk show, but does make frequent guest appearances.

With comedian Michelle Collins out of the show, a new funny woman is needed and Alonzo would be an awesome replacement. Alonzo knows about timing, knows when to chime in, does not steer away from the hot topic in discussion and compliments it with her hilarious one-liners. Alonzo has a voice and is well-informed about politics and pop culture. We hope that her appearances are because producers are thinking of bringing her as a full-on panelist for next season.
