More trouble awaits the Trumps’ as the 45th U.S. president’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr, 42, has also been tested positive for the virus.

“Don tested positive at the start of the week and has been quarantining out at his cabin since the result,” said a spokesperson for Trump Jr. “He’s been completely asymptomatic so far and is following all medically recommended COVID-19 guidelines,” he added.

Trump Jr.’s partner Kimberly Guilfoyle had earlier contracted the viral infection back in July, which led to the president canceling several campaign gigs to avoid contagion.

Donald Trump however seemed stanchly optimistic about his son’s impending recovery, and tweeted Saturday that his son was already “doing very well.” Donald Trump Jr is the second among Trump's kids to have contracted the virus after Barron too was tested positive last month. Trump Jr. had sided with his politician father in the past when he averred that the fatalities in the U.S. from the disease were “almost nothing.”

“Why aren't they talking about deaths?” said Trump Jr to host Laura Ingraham. “The number's almost nothing because we've gotten control and we understand how it works. We have the therapeutics to be able to deal with this,” added the businessman.

The inflammatory remark came at a time – early July – when things began to spiral out of control, and over 5,600 deaths were logged in. The United States of America continues to live in grim reality, with 12.3 million cases and 257k deaths having been logged in. A COVID Tracking Project recorded approximately 8,461 deaths in the U.S. last week since May.

The Trump administration touched a raw nerve after allegedly downplaying the severity of the pandemic. The White House, which constantly refused to acknowledge the catastrophic effects of the outbreak, witnessed an outbreak within its four walls, with Trump, his wife Melania, Barron, former adviser Kellyanne Conway, senior adviser Hope Hicks, and White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany having tested positive.

Donald Trump’s volatile accusations over the recently concluded 2020 U.S. presidential elections rustled up a furor. Trump filed a petition for a recount of votes citing how the election was “stolen from him”. The numbers however continued to tip in favor of Joe Biden, as he emerged the first Democrat to have clinched maximum votes in Georgia, the key battleground state, since 1992.
