It's a Saiyan's worst nightmare and an anime fan's dream come true: "Dragon Ball Z: Revival of F" release date for theaters in Japan is April 18. The new Dragon Ball Z full-length movie is also known as "Fukkatsu no F," or "Resurrection of F," and will be available in 2D, 3D, as well as a special IMAX 3D screening in 18 IMAX digital theaters located in Japan.

To call Frieza one of the most greatest villains in the "Dragon Ball" series is an understatement. In fact, the Goku Vs. Frieza arc is arguably more responsible for transforming anime into a global phenomenon than anything else. Part of the reason why the "Dragon Ball Z" Frieza Saga was so significant is because of its sheer length: the story arc lasted for more than 32 episodes. During the time, not only did the battle against Frieza utterly destroy the planet, but "Dragon Ball" fans got to see Goku grow stronger right before their eyes: it was the first time we witnessed a Super Saiyan.

Ultimately, Goku managed to defeat Frieza with his Super Saiyan power and the villain was believed to be dead with the obliteration of Planet Namek. However, Frieza's father King Cold retrieved Frieza's body and rebuilt him as a cyborg even more powerful than ever before.

Mecha Frieza is driven by revenge and decides to visit Earth and to destroy Goku. However, Future Trunks turns Super Saiyan and destroys Frieza with a single attack.

"Dragon Ball Z: Revival of F" takes place far in the future in the Dragon Ball Z timeline and it introduces us to a brand-new form of Frieza. Here are five things we know about the new and surprisingly badass Golden Frieza:

  1. Following his death by the hand of Future Trunks, Frieza was imprisoned in Hell. However, he retained his Mecha Frieza state.
  2. In 14 years, Frieza's elite soldiers Sorbet and Tagoma manage to collect all the Dragon Balls to summon Shenron and resurrect their leader.
  3. Sorbet and Tagoma also collected all of Frieza's organic parts and placed them in a healing chamber to completely regenerate Frieza's body.
  4. The resurrected Frieza reveals his plans to kill both Goku and Trunks. While Frieza was dead, Goku's power level has far surpassed Majin Buu.
  5. Frieza builds an army one thousand strong. Now, Frieza and Goku will face-off. Frieza finally reveals his Ultimate Evolution state: Golden Frieza
