Actress and activist Eva Longoria expressed her dismay to MSNBC against the inaction in Washington D.C. on the red carpet of her film “Go Sebastien Go!” at the Tribeca Film Festival. Longoria said that, while people like to place the blame on President Barack Obama, the real problem is the US political system and electoral process is simply not working. When asked about the immigration reform, the “Desperate Housewives” star said, “There’s a lot of inaction in congress right now, and although people like to blame our President, it’s really our fault as voters. We keep voting the same people into congress.”

The actress also explained why she decided to make and direct the movie, about 11-year-old Sebastien de la Cruz, who sang the national anthem at a San Antonio Spurs home game during the 2013 NBA Finals wearing a traditional mariachi suit, which sparked a social media frenzy where de la Cruz received insults, outrage slurs and was branded as “illegal” by some. “The film is a great reflection of where we are in society, so the reason I wanted to do this film is because the way he handled it is the real story.”

“There’s a lot of injustice going on in America these days, so I think using the media and these platforms is really important,” Longoria continued telling MSNBC. “If people complain and want to make a change they have to show up for the midterms,” the actress insisted.
