A resurfaced video where a former Trump White House official suggests the U.S. should adopt "male only" voting has gone viral amid scrutiny of jokes made by public figures associated with the Trump campaign.

The quip in question was originally posted to the TikTok account for Date Right Stuff, a Republican dating app co-founded by former Trump staffer, John McEntee.

"When we said we wanted mail-only voting, we meant male — M A L E," McEntee jests, ending the clip with a smile. The video has gone viral since it resurfaced Monday, gathering over four million views on the social platform "X" in 24 hours.

McEntee, who served as Director of Presidential Personnel under Trump and is now a senior advisor at The Heritage Foundation's Project 2025. He heads "the group's efforts to compile a database of thousands of vetted conservatives to staff a new conservative administration," according to The New York Times.

A scroll of the Date Right Stuff TikTok account reveals video after video featuring McEntee, often sitting down to eat, delivering short, snarky takes on conservative talking points.

Jen Psaki of MSNBC compiled a selection of the videos in July. "I don't know about you, but that's the last guy I would trust to hire anyone," Psaki said after the clips played.

The account sparked outrage in May over another TikTok where he claimed to give counterfeit cash to unhoused people. "...When they go to use it they get arrested. So I'm actually helping clean up the community, you know, getting them off the streets."

McEntee responded to criticism of the video in a caption that read, "Just a joke. Everyone calm down," according to Rolling Stone.

"Just jokes" have come under fire this week after a New York Trump rally where speakers made several racially charged and misogynistic comments, including comedian Tony Hinchliffe, who called Puerto Rico "an island of garbage." The next day, conservative pundit Ryan James Girdusky was banned from CNN for responding to another guest's support of Palestine by saying, "I hope your beeper doesn't go off."

Hinchcliffe and Girdusky responded similarly to backlash with attacks on their critics' sense of humor.

"Ladies, this is MAGA," USA Today writer Michael J. Stern wrote. "They don't want women to vote. Yes, they want to repeal the 19th Amendment. [McEntee] is a close ally of Trump's and may have a place in his administration if he's elected. If that does not motivate you, I don't know what will."
