A prominent lawyer from South Carolina who lost his wife and son three months ago was reportedly shot on Saturday, Sept. 4, by unknown assailants while changing the tire of his vehicle in Hampton County.

The man was identified as lawyer Alex Murdaugh who suffered a superficial gunshot wound to the head. According to NBC News, the South Carolina lawyer is expected to make full recovery per authorities and relatives.

Murdaugh reportedly called 911 at around 1:34 p.m. on Saturday and said he was shot while changing the flat tire of his car along the rural highway of Hampton County. When help arrived, he was flown to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia for treatment.

Murdaugh’s black Mercedes Benz SUV is currently being processed by investigators for possible evidence. Witnesses were also being interviewed according to South Carolina Law Enforcement Division spokesman Tommy Crosby.

Murdaugh, whose father and grandfather were top prosecutors, has already gone through enough after losing his wife and son in June.

Margaret and Paul Murdaugh were shot multiple times and found near a dog kennel at their hunting lodge in Colleton County.

The incident seems to have stemmed from Paul Murdaugh’s indictment of the 2019 boat crash that left one of his passengers dead. It was concluded at that time that the teens were grossly intoxicated.

The 22-year-old pleaded not guilty to the three felony counts of boating under the influence and was awaiting trial at the time of his death.

Alex Murdaugh offered a $100,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the parties responsible for their deaths, CNN reported.

It has yet to be established if there is a connection with the recent shooting of Alex Murdaugh. According to a family friend, Jim Griffin, a pickup truck passed by Murdaugh as he was changing his tires.

The truck allegedly turned around and opened fire at the lawyer.
