A Clifton Forge, Virginia woman is now in police custody following the abduction of a 2-year-old Giles County boy from the Riverview Baptist Church on Sunday.

Nancy Renee Fridley, 44, has been charged with one count of abduction and one count of felony child endangerment. Police also arrested Fridley’s boyfriend, Bobby Lee Taylor, and charged him with one count of abduction.

Taylor’s brother, Dennis Leevess Jr., expressed his shock in a 10 News interview upon hearing the news. He said he's unsure what would motivate Fridley to snatch a child from a church.

The 2-year old, Noah Gabriel Trout, was recovered unscathed on Sunday, confirmed the Giles County Sheriff's Office. The child was taken to a hospital for an evaluation and is now under the care of FBI Agents and Virginia State Police (VSP) Tactical Team members.

Police noted that they have been working round-the-clock to help bring Trout home safely, setting up a perimeter around Fridley's Alleghany County home to rescue the young boy on Monday, according to WSET ABC13.

In a brief comment, Stanley Meador, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Richmond Field Office, praised the community for their collective efforts.

“Because of you, Noah gets to rest peacefully tonight, under the watchful eye of his parents,” he said.

Church officials also verified that the 2-year-old was found a day after he was abducted, after the presence of a suspicious vehicle pulled up near its parking lot on Sunday, according to the New York Post.

Giles County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Scott Moye later announced Fridley's arrest in the succeeding hours.

Following Trout's disappearance, an Amber Alert was issued announcing that the child may be in extreme danger. The Giles County boy was last spotted Sunday around midnight at Big Stony Creek Road in Ripplemead, Virginia, alerted the now-canceled Amber Alert.

Trout was described as a white male child with blond hair and blue eyes, about 2 ft 9 inches tall and weighing 33 pounds. He was last seen in a gray shirt and orange jacket. At the time, the identity of the suspected abductor remained unknown. Law enforcement cited that the suspected kidnapper possibly drove a dark-colored SUV or van.

Police are yet to determine the motive behind the abduction with the investigation underway.
