Guadalajara's Chivas will have a tough match agains Santos de Laguna when they play tonight at 9/8c. Guadalajara is second last on the table with just nine points, while Santos is marching along in second place with 29 points and qualifying for the Liguilla. Pedro Caixinha and his team are strong favorites, even though they are the visitors. However, Chivas only have one victory in the current championship and so far their performance is hardly a match for the 'laguneros.'
Chivas will no doubt come to the match wondering why this is the worst tournament in the club's history. Juan Carlos Ortega will most likely send out some of his Sub-20 players to see what they can do to improve the team's chances for 2014. The intention behind the strategy is to put the younger team with the top Chivas team in the hopes of overcoming what has been a terrible season for Guadalajara. Meanwhile, the Laguneras will come to take advantage of Chivas' poor form and try to reach the top spot on the table.
It goes without saying that both teams will have some missing players due to their selection for El Tri. For the Chivas, Aldo Nigris will be absent, while the Santos will play without Oribe Peralta and Jesús Escoboza.
