Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren opened up about her beauty routine (or lack thereof) to The Telegraph, and explained why she is so appreciative of the women who have broken stereotypes and “claimed their own bodies.” “When I was growing up, it was thought to be unbelievably sluttish to even have a bra strap showing,” Mirren said. “Everything was about women conforming. I love shameless women. Shameless and proud!”

“Women were controlled by being shamed, so I love women who have claimed their own bodies,” she insisted. The British actress also thanked certain women, such as Jennifer Lopez, because thanks to her (and later on Kim Kardashian) “we’re allowed to have butts now!” “We’re also allowed to have thighs now, which is great too. It’s very positive,” Mirren exclaimed.

On that note, JLo also spoke about the matter with Andy Cohen on his show “Watch What Happens: Live” two months ago, where he jokingly asked, “Do you think the Kardashians stole your jam with having a great ass?” Lopez smiled and said, “I think I paved the way for them… Just another innovation that I’ve given to the world!”

The singer has always been very proud of her stunning body, and recently even designed awesome limited edition tank tops to encourage men and women to appreciate those beautiful curves, which read: “Lucky To Have These Curves.”

As for her, Mirren said she enjoys not being a sex symbol anymore and does not really look after herself in strict ways. The actress even shared that she has no beauty regime whatsoever since she believes life is too short for that. “I sunbathe – I know I shouldn’t but I love sitting in the sun. I drink wine and occasionally I’ll drink to excess. I eat French fries. I’ve never managed to go to the gym for longer than two months. I always forget to take my vitamins.”
