Hooker Charged For Sleeping With Minor Fires Back, Age Verification Of Juvenile Sought

A 26-year-old woman from Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe is facing indecent assault charges but may find herself getting off the hook. Her camp has challenged the real age of the minor in court and bat the accused had no way of telling if the juvenile was a minor.

The woman was identified as Precious Teya who was arraigned on charges of indecent assault. She slept with the alleged 13-year-old boy who he met on an adult dating site. But her lawyer, Moses Nyatsoma is contesting the charges his client is facing.

One is that the camp of Teya wants to see an authentic and official birth certificate of the boy. So far, the prosecution has failed to provide the requested documents to prove his age.

“We have requested his birth certificate but we have not been furnished with the same to date. So as far as the age of the complainant is concerned, we are not sure,” the camp of Teya contested.

Aside from that, the counsel of Teya is questioning how a 13-year-old boy was able to get access and navigate to the adult dating site. Nyatsoma pointed out that the fact that the boy should be in school and yet have a secret phone that no one knew about is a bit shady.

Also, Nyatsoma raised the fact that Teya had no idea to figure out if the would-be client was an adult or a minor. He pointed out the actions of the boy and his conduct and mannerisms of the boy were in no way consistent with that of a normal 13-year-old.

“If you look at the stature of the child, his height, the way he is built, you cannot tell by merely looking at him that he is 13 and there was no way my client could suspect he was a minor,” the defense stated.

Unless the birth certificate is presented, Teya could get a reprieve. Her appeal against denial of bail by a magistrate will be heard by High Court judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi.
