Democrats in the House are taking steps to censure two GOP lawmakers over recent anti-Muslim publications.

Axios detailed that different resolutions have been introduced against Reps. Randy Fine and Andy Ogles.

Democratic Rep. Shri Thanedar introduced a resolution on Thursday to censure Ogles for saying that "Muslims don't belong in American society."

Democrats have come out to slam Ogles over the comment, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries calling him a "malignant clown and pathological liar who has fabricated his whole life story."

" Disgusting Islamophobes like you do not belong in Congress or in civilized society. And that's why House Democrats will defeat you in November," Jeffries said in a social media publication earlier this week.

Rep. Thanedar's resolution would also see Ogles removed from the House Committee on Homeland Security.

As for Fine, he has repeatedly stirred controversy on the matter, most recently calling for "more Islamophobia, not less" in a publication on Thursday.

He had also made headlines with comments he made about about dogs and Muslims after reacting to a post from a person he described as the "leader of one of the key mainstream Muslim groups that supported" New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

The publication in question said: "Finally, NYC is coming to Islam. Dogs definitely have a place in society, just not as indoor pets. Like we've said all along, they are unclean."

Fine said that "if they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was among those who slammed Fine, saying the publication is "genuinely one of the most disgusting statements I have ever seen issued by an American official."

"It should not stop shocking us that the Republican Party openly embraces this. Fine should be censured & stripped of committees. To ignore this is to accept and normalize it," she added.

Axios noted that Hakeem Jeffries has signaled openness to censuring Fine. "Mike Johnson has spent a lot of time talking about decorum. Get your Members under control. Because if you don't, we will," he said in a recent press conference.
