Earlier today CBS announced they will not be going forward with the "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff "How I Met Your Dad" due to differences with the shows producers.
According to earlier reports and comments from CBS execs this morning, "How I Met Your Dad" had shot a pilot episode, but CBS wasn't happy with it and asked for a redo. The producers of the show then learned that a second pilot didn’t guarantee a series order by the network and decided it wasn’t worth pursuing.
CBS's Nina Tassler spoke with the general media this morning and announced the series production had run into some snags.
“There were elements on the pilot that didn’t work out," Nina Tassler said. "We tried to work out about redoing the pilot. That’s not happening right now. Sometimes you run into these kind of issues and you hope they can resolve themselves in that time frame.”
However there is silver lining here. For those fans looking forward to the "HIMYM" spinoff: CBS' option to pass on the series means other networks can pick up the show as early as tomorrow. Given the shows wild popularity and fan base it would be in another networks best interest to pick up "How I Met Your Dad."
"How I Met Your Dad" stars Greta Gerwig, Nicholas D’Agosto, Andrew Santino, Tiya Sircar, and Drew Tarver. The series narrator is Meg Ryan.
Do you think another network will pick up the series or is "How I Met Your Dad" done and over with?
