Kate Middleton, allegedly, gave a sweet nod to Meghan Markle last weekend. The coming together of the two duchesses marked the first time that Kate and Meghan faced each other since the rumored rift involving the Sussexes and the Cambridges swirled around earlier this year.

On Saturday, Kate Middleton attended the Festival of Remembrance wearing a navy blue dress with a bateau neckline. Her neckline sparked speculations that her dress might have been intended as a tribute to the Duchess of Sussex, who has always been known for wearing dresses with bateau necklines.

Although it remains unknown if Kate had intended to pay tribute to Meghan by wearing her trademark neckline, royal followers believe that the Duchess of Cambridge had the best intentions when she copied Meghan’s style. At the event, the Duchess of Cambridge donned a dark navy blue dress and a smart black belt. Pinned on her dress were three red poppies. She matched her outfit with a black headband and a pair of black velvet pumps by Jimmy Choo.

Meghan, on the other hand, wore a floral black dress with a wide black belt. Three big buttons fastened her belt at the front.

The members of the royal family annually commemorate the Festival of Remembrance as a tribute to those British personnel killed in the line of duty. Poppies are very common in Britain during this celebration, as poppies are said to serve as a tribute to the murdered members of the British armed forces. Aside from Kate and Meghan, Prince William also pinned a poppy onto his dark suit on the day of the celebration.

Joining the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last Saturday at the festival were Queen Elizabeth, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and his girlfriend Carrie Symonds. Other dignitaries and veterans also gathered together inside the Royal Albert Hall to pay their respects to the killed British forces.

Last Saturday’s gathering marked Kate and Meghan’s first joint public engagement since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s provocative ITV documentary last month. At the event, Prince Harry and Meghan managed to put on a united front with Prince William and Kate despite their rumored rift.
