Kylie and Kendall Jenner’s Olympic gold-medal-winning decathlete dad Bruce Jenner probably made the hardest decision of his life in 2015. Braving potential ridicule, the dad of six decided to stay true to who he is and came out as a trans woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer in April 2015.

Of course the transformation didn’t end with that interview. Two months later, the Olympic gold medal holder had a renaming ceremony where Bruce adopted the name Caitlyn Marie Jenner and likewise opted for a feminine pronoun when describing herself. She underwent a sex reassignment surgery in January 2017, which completed her transformation.

While all of these changes might have ultimately brought Caitlyn to her real gender identity, they didn’t have a positive effect on her relationships with her daughters, Kendall and Kylie. On the contrary, her transition put a huge strain on the previously unbreakable bond they had with their father.

Kylie Didn’t Invite Caitlyn In A Very Important Event

Caitlyn’s transition made her increasingly distant from her daughters. This growing gap became apparent during Kylie’s graduation, an event where Caitlyn wasn’t even invited.

“It wasn’t me making that decision, it was you making that decision,” Caitlyn Jenner confronted ex-wife Kris Jenner over the incident. “I was so disappointed in everybody. For 15 years of my life, I carpooled the kids every day. Some days, I would spend three or four hours in the car. [It’s] a slap in the face when you don’t even get invited to their graduation.”

Kendall Didn’t Want To Deal With The Media Drama

Both Kylie and Kendall were invited in the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, but the latter must have dreaded dealing with the inevitable media grilling over Bruce’s transition into Caitlyn, which happened just weeks earlier. Thus, she skipped the press interviews by feigning sickness, leaving the younger Kylie to fend for herself.

Unfortunately, the tactic wasn’t lost on Kylie, who later confronted her older sister over her behavior. “I totally understand you had your s*** going on, I just felt like I really needed you,” the younger Jenner complained about the evasive maneuver.

Kendall Wasn’t Happy With Caitlyn’s Memoir

When Caitlyn’s memoir “The Secrets Of My Life” hit the shelves in 2017, it added further fuel to Kendall’s growing displeasure with her father. In fact, she called it “insane.”

Her main complaint was that not all of what her father said in the book is true. “I heard about all the stuff that she was saying in it and just how a lot of it’s so not true.”

Kendall also had problems when she read about what Caitlyn said about the Kardashians. “And then she goes around dissing the Kardashians, but it’s like, those are the kids that you raised! If you have a problem with them, you raised them,” the model complained of her father to Kris. “That makes no sense to me that she would go around bashing us for no reason. It’s insane, mom! That’s insane!”

Kylie Played The Pacifist

While Kendall was loyal to Kris, Kylie did her best to be supportive of Caitlyn. Even with the rest of the family shunning the Olympian, the youngest Jenner still communicated with her dad.

“Kylie has really made an effort not to take sides and to be supportive of Caitlyn,” a source told E News. “She really wants to have a relationship with her dad, but Caitlyn has hurt Kris tremendously and it’s made it very difficult.”

Caitlyn Mended Her Ties With Kylie And Kendall

However, time is indeed a great healer, and the strained relationship that Caitlyn had with her youngest daughter seem to have mended. For instance, Caitlyn was present when the youngest self-made billionaire launched her cosmetic line Kylie Skin. She was also spotted walking down the red carpet with Kendall at the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
