How Queen Elizabeth’s Plan Of A ‘Merry Chaos’ Was Ruined By Meghan Markle

Queen Elizabeth was reportedly not amused by Meghan Markle skipping the royal family’s Balmoral trip last weekend. The Duchess of Sussex snubbed the monarch’s invitation to visit New York and see her good friend Serena Williams, who was set to compete in the US Open Final.

Queen Elizabeth invited Meghan to attend the Highland Games over the weekend at Balmoral. However, Meghan turned down the Queen’s invitation and flew out on Friday to see Williams.

According to royal insiders, the Queen was extremely disappointed and hurt as she was excited to bring all her friends and family together for the event. The Queen reportedly described Meghan’s move as an “outright snub,” and what disappointed her more was that even her grandson Prince Harry did not grace her invitation.

The Queen has reportedly set her heart on “a few days of merry chaos” with her great-grandchildren, including Prince Harry and Meghan’s son, Archie Harrison. To her dismay, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex declined a visit to Balmoral on the Queen’s Scottish holiday, saying that Archie was too young to travel that far.

Archie has yet to visit Queen Elizabeth’s Balmoral home with his parents. Unlike him, his cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis got to visit Balmoral when they were about his age.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Meghan said that Prince Harry and Meghan had no choice but to turn down the invitation because they were too busy with work last weekend. The spokesperson claimed that the Duchess of Sussex even took a British Airways commercial flight from London Heathrow to get to New York.

Since Prince Harry and Meghan declined to accompany the Queen at Balmoral, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles served as the Queen’s companions at the Braemar Gathering Highland Games in Scotland last weekend. The event was held coinciding Serena Williams’ game, where she competed against Canadian player Bianca Andreescu in the US Open.

It remains unknown if Queen Elizabeth and Meghan Markle have already talked since Meghan left for New York. While Meghan’s reason for turning down her invitation was valid, royal followers saw it as solid proof that Meghan is indeed distancing herself from the royal family.
