Jennifer Lopez spoke to People magazine, and said she thought she had found the one when she first met Ben Affleck in 2003. The famous couple fell madly in love and even got engaged shortly before their scandalous split 18 months after they started dating. “We didn't try to have a public relationship,” says Lopez in The Jess Cagle Interview with People and Entertainment Weekly's editorial director. “We just happened to be together at the birth of the tabloids, and it was like ‘Oh my God.’ It was just a lot of pressure.”
The “Shades of Blue” star blames the Bennifer breakup partly on the spotlight and partly on the fact that love most times disguises people’s faults. “Sometimes I feel like what you think people are and how you see them when you love them is different than when they reveal later,” she explained after revealing that she thought “that was it” when she met the “Batman v Superman” actor.
“Different time, different thing, who knows what could’ve happened, but I will say there was genuine love there,” Lopez said. Rumors that the couple would get back together after Affleck divorced Jennifer Garner swirled since last summer, but it clearly did not happen.
