An entertainment lawyer who testified on Monday claimed that Amber Heard's op-ed affected Johnny Depp's career.

An expert witness, Richard Marks, testified during the trial in which Depp is suing Heard, his ex-wife, for $50 million for an op-ed she wrote in the Washington Post in 2018 recounting her experiences with domestic abuse.

During the fourth week of the trial's testimony, Marks made some statements. Although Heard never identified him, the Pirates of the Caribbean star sued, claiming that the op-ed ruined his career and made it impossible for him to acquire film roles. Heard responded by filing a nuisance lawsuit against Depp.

Marks explained how an actor's reputation could impact whether or not they are chosen by a corporation to star in a film or serve as a spokesman. "City of Lies," a 2018 film about the investigations surrounding the killings of rappers Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, earned Johnny Depp $8 million. Depp was paid $10 million for his role in the 2017 mystery Murder on the Orient Express.

Depp was paid $13.5 million for his role as Gellert Grindelwald in "Fantastic Beasts 2: Crimes of Grindelwald," a spin-off from the "Harry Potter" film released in 2018. Depp earned $3.5 million for the 2018 comedy-drama "The Professor" and $1 million for the 2019 adaptation of J.K. Rowling's novel 'Waiting for the Barbarians.' According to Whigham, Depp was paid $3 million for the picture Minimata, which was released in 2020.

Between 2017 and 2020, Depp earned a total of $38 million for his acting roles. During cross-examination, Heard's attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, questioned Whigham's allegations that the lucrative contract between Depp and Disney for the new film was a done deal.

The new evidence backs up Depp's claims that Heard's op-ed damaged his long-running Hollywood career. Daily Mail said Richard Marks, an entertainment lawyer with decades of experience in Hollywood, also testified before the jury about his thoughts on Heard's op-eds and their impact on Depp's career.

Meanwhile, one of Johnny Depp's security guards claimed that Amber Heard punched the actor in the face during their marriage. On Monday, Travis McGivern testified by live video link in Depp's ongoing defamation trial against his ex-wife. McGivern elaborated on some of the disputes he witnessed between Depp and Heard when they returned home from Australia in March 2015, where the infamous severed finger incident occurred.

According to the security officer, who is still employed by Depp, a cordial conversation turned into a louder and more aggressive argument. Heard allegedly threw a Red Bull can at Depp during the altercation, causing McGivern to approach Depp while the verbal barrage continued.

During cross-examination, Heard's attorney asked if Depp grabbed Amber's hair while attempting to beat her up during the incident. McGivern disputed the attorney's version of events, questioning if Heard only punched Depp after assaulting her sister that day. According to People, McGivern also refuted this claim.
