Everybody’s favorite gentleman thief is back with a new series implying that the generally upbeat hero will take a darker twist in the show. “Lupin The Third: Part 6” will air in October as part of TMS Entertainment's 50th-anniversary celebration of the anime franchise.

Part I of the original series began on October 24, 1971, 50 years after the manga was produced into an animated series – and, its first airtime show. Following 2018's Part V, “Lupin The Third: Part 6” is the sixth television anime series adaptation of Monkey Punch's “Lupin The Third” manga.

The news was accompanied by a teaser clip that included a sequence of disguises being pulled off, time bombs ticking away, street shootouts, and a major revelation of the famous gentleman thief in his green jacket used in the 1971 anime.

The teaser contains very little info about the story, but fans quickly note a solemn tone. Although many viewers were caught surprised by the new artwork - Lupin is wearing again his green jacket that panned out in the earlier series.

The story is told that Lupin, who is accompanied by samurai Goemon, sniper Daisuke Jigen, and Fujiko Mine, a femme fatale who isn't hesitant to betray him. They're usually pursued by Interpol officer Koichi Zenigata, who never manages to apprehend his target.

Eiji Suganama, who worked on “Lupin The Third: Prison of the Past,” will direct “Lupin the Third: Part VI.” Takahiro Okura will be in charge of the series composition, while Hiroki Marufuji will be in charge of character design. Finally, the soundtrack will be composed by Yuji Ohno.

"Lupin the Third" begins with Monkey Punch's popular manga and follows the famous gentleman thief on his numerous adventures around the world. Lupin the Third Part I, the first TV anime series, debuted in 1971. Anime films, OVAs, and games are among the series' many iterations.
