With EA Sports' highly anticipated 'Madden NFL 25' set to release in late August, the company has begun to announce who will be featured on the video game's Madden All-25 Team, honoring the best players in the history of the football game.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise, EA Sports began releasing the stout roster on Monday, July 29 starting with the most obvious member of the team, former Oakland Raiders head coach and driving force behind the popularity of the game, John Madden.

Madden teamed up with EA Sports in 1986 and as he wanted to help create a video game that would appeal to the avid football fan, the Hall of Fame coach and former broadcaster wanted the game to depict real-life actions of each player as opposed to creating just another run-of-the-mill football game.

"If it isn't 11 on 11, it isn't real football," Madden said about the game as it relates to professional football. Thanks to his ideas and guidance, the Madden franchise remains one of the most recognizable in video game history.

Basing each player selection off how the football star did in various Madden games, EA Sports released the first two players on the All-25 team on Tuesday, July 30.

Selecting Marshall Faulk to represent a long line of running backs on the Anniversary team along with legendary fullback Mike Alstott, EA Sports developers chose 2 of the most popular figures in the 25-year history of the game.

Faulk was a tremendous player for the Indianapolis Colts and St. Louis Rams throughout his Hall of Fame career. Amassing over 12,200 rushing yards and 6,800 receiving yards in 13 professional seasons, Faulk was rated a 99 in Madden NFL '03 while serving as the cover player.

Alstott earned a rating of 99 in Madden NFL 2000 and as one of the top fullbacks to ever play the position, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer was a tremendous asset in short-yardage running plays and basic passing plays out of the backfield.

The next two players announced on Wednesday, July 31 are two of the easiest selections EA Sports will make before the entire team is announced on August 10.

Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers and San Diego Chargers DE Dwight Freeney were chosen as the All-25 defensive end representatives after enjoying great success with the Madden video game franchise.

Peppers earned a rating of 97 in Madden 2006 as a member of the Carolina Panthers while Freeney held a high rating of 99 during Madden 2007, solidifying them as 2 of the best defensive players in game history.
