President Trump has joined a wave of conservative criticism over the NFL's decision to select Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny as the headliner for the Super Bowl LX halftime show, calling the choice "absolutely ridiculous" and "crazy."

In a televised interview with Newsmax's Greg Kelly, Trump dismissed the Grammy-winning musician's selection and questioned why the NFL would feature him. "I never heard of him. I don't know who he is, I don't know why they're doing it," Trump said. "It's like, crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it's absolutely ridiculous."

The Spanish-only performance, scheduled for February 8, 2026, at Levi's Stadium in California, has become a cultural flashpoint, igniting broader debates over representation, language, and politics in one of America's most-watched annual events.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, responded to criticism of the Super Bowl LX halftime show on his SNL hosting gig over the weekend, telling viewers they have "four months to learn" Spanish ahead of his performance if they really want to know what he's saying.

The announcement has prompted strong reactions across conservative circles. Florida's first lady, Casey DeSantis, wrote on X, "Not trying to start anything here, but honestly... who exactly is Bad Bunny?" while former NASCAR driver turned conservative pundit, Danica Patrick, argued that English-only performances should be required, posting, "No songs in English should not be allowed at one of America's highest-rated television events of the year ... not just for sports."

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) also weighed in:

"It would be a good time to pass my bill to make English the official language of America. And the NFL needs to stop having demonic sexual performances during its halftime shows"

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed over the weekend that federal immigration officers would be "all over" the Super Bowl, suggesting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents would attend the event as part of a security operation. "People should not attend unless they are law-abiding Americans who love this country," Noem told right-wing commentator Benny Johnson, who called Bad Bunny a "massive Trump hater."

Neither the NFL, Roc Nation, nor Bad Bunny's representatives have commented on Trump's remarks.
