Man Accused Of Raping Daughter Found Hanging From Tree

Police are investigating the death of a man in the northeast Indian state of Agartala. His death comes the day after his family accused him of rape. The unnamed man had reportedly raped his daughter. It is believed that the man committed suicide following a complaint being filed against him.

The resident of north Tripura, Agartala was accused of raping his 17-year-old daughter. The man’s family alleged that the teen had been sexually assaulted by the man on Friday, May 28. It is unclear how the family came to know of the alleged rape.

On Monday, May 31 the family filed a complaint against the daily wage earner, Times of India reported. Police initiated an investigation into the incident. However, before the man was taken into custody he was found hanging from a tree near his home. The discovery of the man’s body was made on Tuesday, June 1.

On Wednesday, June 2 Superintendent of Police, Bhanupada Chakraborty, stated that a preliminary investigation had been conducted into the accused’s death. The preliminary investigation indicated that the man died by suicide, India Today reported. Both the incidents are being investigated.

The names of the victim and the accused have not been disclosed to protect the identity of the victim.

In another case where a child accused their father of rape, a 38-year-old man was arrested for raping his 11-year-old daughter. The resident of Andheri, Mumbai, India was found in tears outside her home by a neighbor. The neighbor tried to console the child by talking to her. The child first told the woman that her father had hit her. Eventually, the child revealed that her father had been sexually assaulting her.

The woman alarmed by the child’s recollection of months of abuse took her to hospital. Following a test confirming the rape, the woman approached the police on Sunday, May 23. The child told the police that she and her nine-year-old sister were living with their father. She said that their mother had left the family. In the absence of his wife, the children’s father raped the older girl on multiple occasions.

Based on the complaint filed against the father, the police arrested the man.
