A father had been arrested for using an unusual item as a weapon to assault his daughter. 20-year-old Kristin Worden called the cops on her father after she had pizza thrown at her. Indian River County Sheriff deputies arrested 41-year-old Tyler Worden following the incident. He faces battery charges.

On Sunday, May 23, Tyler went to his daughter’s home in Vero Beach, Florida with a pizza around 3:50 p.m. The unplanned visit was to have a meal with his daughter. Tyler’s plan did not go well as his daughter was not willing to entertain her father.

According to WHDH, Kristin told her father that she was not feeling well so she wanted him to leave. Instead of accepting his daughter’s denial, Tyler began arguing. He refused to leave the threshold as the father and daughter continued to argue.

After arguing for a while, Tyler reportedly walked out of the house. After stepping out of the front door, he reportedly flung a slice of pizza at Kristin before she could close the door behind him. The slice hit the woman on her face. Following the heated exchange, the woman called 911. Responding to the domestic dispute call, deputies arrived at the woman’s home. It is unclear if Tyler was still there when the police arrived.

The deputies noted that Kristin had a red substance on her face which could have been pizza sauce, Tampa Free Press reported.

When the deputies arrested Tyler, he explained that he had not meant to assault his daughter. He told the deputies that he was angered by his daughter’s refusal to have pizza with him. When he stepped out of the home, he thought that his daughter had already shut the door. He said that his intention was to throw the slice at the door, not at Kristin.

The deputies noted in the affidavit that there were no pizza toppings or sauce on the door. The ground near the door did have pizza toppings strewn around. The deputies also noted that Tyler’s breath had a strong stench of alcohol.

Charged with battery, Tyler was taken into custody. He was later transported to Indian River County Jail.
