An Indian man has been accused of strangling a six-year-old boy to death, smashing the victim's face in with bricks, and dumping the body in the bushes, in an act of brutal revenge against the deceased child’s mother for causing a rift between him and his wife.

The accused, identified as Guddu Kumar Sahni, 30, a daily wage laborer of Bihar’s Samastipur, has been arrested Saturday, July 24, the heinous killing of a six-year-old boy and disposing of the toddler's remains in a vacant plot in Gurugram, Haryana, India, Times Now reported.

Sahni and his wife reportedly stayed in a rented accommodation in Basai Enclave in Sector 10, Gurugram. The victim and his mother were reportedly their neighbors in the town, as well as being related to her the suspect's wife.

Since Sahni and his wife used to have frequent arguments, the couple were visited and counseled by the wife’s parents and her maternal aunt, the boy victim's mother, in June. As the fights continued, however, Sahni's wife reportedly decided to leave the suspect and went to live with her parents in Panipat.

Sahni seemingly held a grudge against his wife's maternal aunt, believing her to have instigated his spouse's departure.

On July 22, Sahni allegedly kidnapped the aunt’s six-year-old son while he was playing outside their house, before luring him to a vacant plot. The vengeful man then allegedly strangled the boy to death, bludgeoned the toddler's face with bricks, and subsequently left the victim's body to rot in the bushes, the Times of India reported.

The next day, July 23, the child’s father, lodged a complaint with the Section 10 Police alerting that one of his children was found to be missing when he returned home from work the previous day.

A police team was immediately formed to track down the boy. With the help of technical surveillance and eyewitness accounts, investigators managed to zero in on Sahni as the primary suspect. During police interrogation, Sahni confessed to having killed the boy, blatantly telling authorities that he wanted to take revenge on his wife’s aunt, as he believed that she was responsible for all the problems in his relationship.

The child’s body was found in a vacant plot in Gurugram, Haryana on Saturday, July 24. A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Sector 10 Police Station against Sahni. He was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody for 14 days ahead of his trial
