A Hawaiian man is suing Delta Airlines for allegedly making him crawl to get on and off a plane. D. Baraka Kanaan is a 40-year-old paraplegic and claims Delta did not offer him the proper assistance needed to get on and off the plane. As a result Kanaan says he had to crawl.

On July 27, 2012 Kanaan was flying from Maui, Hawaii to Nantucket Massachusetts. In his lawsuit Kanaan says he "endured physical and extreme emotional suffering" by being forced to crawl onto the flight. Two days later when Kanaan was returning home on another Delta flight he says he was again forced to crawl and offered no additional assistance.

According to the Christian Post Kanaan called the airline weeks before his trip in order to tell them he would need assistance boarding the flight. When he arrived in Nantucket Kanaan said he was assured by Delta his flight home would be equipped with the necessary items to help him board and disembark the aircraft.

Kanaan claims he was offered a cardboard slide so he could crawl on and off without ruining his cloths. According to The Examiner the flight attendants said they had no other options but to offer the card board slide.

Delta Airlines is said to have offered Kanaan 25,000 free flying miles but Kanaan turned it down and instead decided to sue. Kanaan is going after the airline and the flight attendants who refused to help him as he was crawling because they were afraid of being sued.
