A man shot and killed his wife’s alleged lover and injured her, before turning the gun on himself in the Kulu district of Himachal Pradesh, India.

The gruesome murder-suicide happened at a hotel in the Shuru village in the suburbs of Manali on Friday, June 24, authorities said.

The man, identified as Rishabh Saxena, a resident of Rohini in New Delhi, allegedly gunned down his wife’s alleged paramour, 31-year-old Sunny Sherawat of Gopal Nagar, Nazafgarh, after finding them together in the hotel room.

According to the police, Saxena’s wife and her female friend were running a hotel at the tourist destination.

On Thursday night, they had invited the victim, who is also their friend, for dinner at the hotel.
Sherawat reportedly spent the night at the hotel.

When Saxena came to the hotel on Friday morning, he found his wife Ravleen Kaur and Sherawat in the bedroom.

The sight infuriated him and this led to a scuffle between the two men, during which, Saxena pulled out a gun and shot his wife and her alleged lover.

Sherawat died on the spot and the woman was left with serious injuries, according to reports.

Saxena then shot himself dead with the same gun, Kullu district Superintendent of Police, Gurdev Sharma, said.

The police are investigating the apparent murder-suicide and a forensic team has also been called, he said, adding prima facie it seems the women had no role in the crime.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further details were revealed at the time of this writing.

A similar incident was reported in Pheonix, Arizona, when a man reportedly shot himself to death after gunning down his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend on Sunday, June 19.

Taffari Celestine, 24, reportedly drove up from Tucson to the apartment complex located on 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road in Phoenix, Arizona, and confronted his ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Danica Aiken, and her current boyfriend, 38-year-old Eric Sands, in their front yard.

During the confrontation, Celestine allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Sands to death. After killing Sands, Celestine then reportedly forced his ex-girlfriend Aiken into the apartment unit and shot her to death inside her home.

Celestine then turned the murder weapon on himself.

Investigating officers believe that the shooter and Aiken were previously in a relationship and that Sands was Aiken's current boyfriend.
