An Alabama man allegedly traded his motorcycle to his brother to order a hit on his estranged wife in November 2017.

According to an indictment that was unsealed on Jan. 24 in Montgomery federal court, the accused, identified as Jason Starr, former husband of the victim Sara Starr, paid his brother and co-accused Darin Starr with a 2016 Triumph motorcycle and an undisclosed amount of money to murder his ex-wife, 36, in 2017, the New York Post reported.

Sara, a fourth-grade teacher at Harrand Creek Elementary School and also a mother to two sets of twins, was found dead in her driveway from a gunshot wound on Nov. 27, 2017.

Jason Starr, who had formally divorced his wife before the murder, was living in Daleville at the time of her death. According to the indictment, Starr made contact with his brother, Darin, and the two of them traveled from Texas to Alabama with the intent to murder Sara.

Starr, who has been charged with the use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of a murder-for-hire, was arrested on Dec. 7, 2021, after more than 4 years without an arrest in the case, WDHN reported.

Starr, who pleaded not guilty to the murder-for-hire charge, has been released to his home with an ankle monitor pending his trial date on June 27 later this year.

Meanwhile, Darin, who was on the run from police and FBI for years, was taken into custody at around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, Feb. 5, in the town west of San Antonio after the Federal Bureau of Investigations shared a “Wanted” poster on Twitter on Feb. 2. He is currently being questioned by federal officials.

Darin has been charged with the use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of a murder-for-hire and a federal arrest warrant was issued in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, in Montgomery, on Dec. 2, 2021.

Before being arrested, Darin had an overall reward of about $22,500 on his head. Alabama Gov. Key Ivey’s Office offered $10,000 for his arrest and conviction and the FBI also allotted$10,000 for information leading to his arrest. In addition to this, the Central Alabama Crime Stoppers was also offering a $2,500 reward for any information that would lead to his location and arrest.
