A man who allegedly filmed Japanese sex workers without their consent using a hidden camera mounted on his glasses has been arrested after being accused of distributing the illicit videos on a pay-to-view site on the internet.

Yasuhiko Tobata, a company employee, 42, reportedly mounted a hidden camera on the frame of his glasses to take video footage during sexual encounters with sex workers. He then allegedly distributed the obscene videos on the pay-to-view site FC2 Contents Market based in the U.S., according to Tokyo Reporter.

An investigation into the incident reportedly began after a sex worker lodged a complaint to the police alleging that a customer had taken videos while engaging in sexual acts with her. “There was something strange about his thick glasses,” she said.

When the police started investigating based on the woman's complaint, they reportedly found the footage of the victim on FC2 Contents Market. Tobata was immediately arrested following an investigation in June.

Upon his arrest, Tobata reportedly confessed to the allegations. “I thought that if I made money, I could visit more sex shops,” he told the police.

Tobata has reportedly accumulated about 1 million yen (US $9,171) in sales from the videos of 33 women that he distributed on the site between March and July.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a 44-year-old man named Koki Matsumura has been arrested by the Hyogo Prefectural Police after he allegedly secretly filmed a 12-year-old girl changing clothes at a beach house.

Matsumura, a self-employed man from Kyoto Prefecture, allegedly inserted a miniature camera inside a changing room and filmed the girl at around 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, at the beach house in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan Today reported.

The girl’s mother who was waiting in front of the changing room reportedly saw Matsumura insert the mini-camera into the changing room and raised the alarm. Matsumura immediately fled the scene but was chased and detained by a beach house employee at the beach’s parking lot. Voyeuristic images and videos of the crime were reportedly found when his phone was inspected.

In another incident, a Madison teacher planted hidden cameras in his female students' hotel rooms and secretly filmed them undressing during school trips.

David M. Kruchten, 38, a Former business teacher who taught in Madison East High School, allegedly hid cameras in air freshener cans and a smoke detector at shower height, facing the shower in three bathrooms at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in downtown Minneapolis, to film his minor students changing clothes, according to Latin Times.

In January 2020, Kruchten was initially charged with seven felony counts of attempting to produce child pornography but eight more complaints were added in August later that year.
