Meghan Markle has celebrated Christmas with the royal family twice. This year, she, Prince Harry, and their son will be spending the holidays in the United States.

During a previous interview, the Duke of Sussex shed light on how his wife’s first Christmas with the royal family was like in 2017. The new dad said that his relatives loved to have Markle there. And in return, the Duchess of Sussex also had a blast in Sandringham.

But after Markle had a fantastic time with the royal family during the holidays, she felt that it’s time to celebrate the occasion with her mom, Doria Ragland, back in their hometown of Los Angeles. Her Majesty supported the royal couple’s decision, but a royal expert is convinced that the monarch is actually hurt.

While speaking with Express, Ingrid Seward said that the Queen is just gracious enough to not let her real feelings known. But it is highly likely that she’s hurt by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision.

“I think it’s sad they don’t want to be part of the family gathering, particularly now that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are in their dotage,” she said. However, Prince Harry and Markle made it clear that their recent decision wasn’t intended to be a snub. Rather, they simply followed precedent of the other members of the British clan.

Since Kate Middleton joined the royal family in 2011, she, Prince William, and their children have already celebrated Christmas away from the Queen and the royals twice. During both occasions, the Cambridges spent the holidays with Middleton’s side of the family, and the Queen didn’t seem to mind.

However, critics couldn’t help but slam Prince Harry and Markle for not celebrating Christmas in Sandringham at a time when there are too many controversies surrounding them. But other royal experts are convinced that this is exactly why the royal couple wants to take some time off.
