As Prince Harry and his wife Meghan’s trip to the U.K. remains largely unsuccessful in bridging the gaps between the royal family, a backlash from supporters of Meghan came about on Sunday after an investigation into alleged bullying by Meghan against royal staff was leaked.

The report, leaked to the Sunday Times of London, claims that two senior royal staff members were bullied while the Duchess of Sussex was a working royal, prompting changes to the royal policy regarding the treatment of staff in public, according to Deadline.

The bullying report, which was investigated by an independent law firm funded by the Queen and has not been released to the public, has initiated backlash from supporters of Meghan online for the vagueness and accusatory tone of the leaked report.

“No one has a negative thing to say about Meghan from before she got married. She gets married into a family with a history of abuse, backstabbing, manipulation and jealously and she’s all of a sudden an agent of chaos that managed to bully the entire monarchy?” a Twitter account dedicated to the Sussexes said.

Meghan’s spokesperson themselves has commented on the situation on her behalf, saying that she is “saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself.”

Prince Harry and Meghan have been attempting to repair their relationship with the British Royal Family for years since their departure in 2020, with little results to show for it. Harry’s meeting with his father Prince Charles at Clarence Home after the Service of Thanksgiving yielded no results in bridging the gap between the two, Marie Claire reported.

“Well, I understand that it was a perfunctory meeting and that there was no real breakthrough,” royal expert Christopher Andersen claimed. “And I have a feeling that Prince Harry definitely went there hoping for some sort of rapprochement, but there were no touchy-feely vibes coming back in his direction. So I think the curtain has come down.”

Harry’s relations with the Queen during the Platinum Jubilee also appeared to take a fall after she only spent less than a hour together with his family to meet her namesake Lilibet, but sources close to the Queen said that she was just trying to regain her strength for the rest of the Jubilee celebrations, according to Cosmopolitan.

“She was working very hard to maintain her strength,” expert Jonathan Sacerdoti said. “I think it’s totally understandable that she was saving her energy as best she could for all the events that she wanted to be at if she possibly could.”
