The Los Angeles Lakers need to fill up their backcourt void with Dennis Schroder on the way out. Several names have cropped up and the latest to be linked to the purple and gold is Buddy Hield of the Sacramento Kings.

According to Shams Charania of The Atheltic, the Kings and the Lakers are reportedly discussing a deal involving the 2020 NBA Three-Point Shooting champion, citing sources.

A player that would be part of the deal is Kyle Kuzma, someone who is believed to be the big chip that the Lakers can offer to land another big player. Multiple teams have expressed interest in the 26-year-old forward.

If salaries are to be compared the Lakers would need to add some assets to make it happen. Hield is due to make $22 million next season while Kuzma is scheduled to start his $13 million extension.

Hence, the names of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and possibly Montrezl Harrell have cropped up. In Harrell’s case, the 2020 NBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee would have to opt-in first in a potential sign-and-trade scenario.

Hield is a proven shooter, someone who can address the need of the Lakers to get more offense. He shoots 39.1% from the three-point region and could be that missing outside artillery that head coach Frank Vogel needs.

In March, it was mentioned that the Kings may consider trading Hield only if they would get a sizable offer. Also, it was pointed out in that post that the 28-year-old has been linked to several teams such as the New York Knicks.

Considering Sacramento has three players making over $20 million next season, Hield could be the guy they may let go. Add to the fact that De’Aaron Fox appears to be the rising start that the Kings are focused on right now, dealing Hield off further makes sense.

However, Sacramento will want to get the best offer for the 6th overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. They may be in talks with the Lakers according to sources cited by The Athletic but other teams could still cash in with better pitches to get the NBA trade done.
