New York Fashion Week got the Latina treatment last night at the Adolfo Sanchez show, with the help of Mexican singer Gloria Trevi. This was a first for the “Supreme Diva” of Mexican pop, who was invited to walk in the fashion show by the designer after realizing that she embodied the inspiration behind his Divinity 2015 Spring and Summer collection. The 27-year-old designer invited Trevi to end his show that was specifically designed for “a strong women who knows what she wants.” Trevi admitted that despite her many years on stage performing, she was nervous, that she simply “wanted to get it right.”

And despite Trevi’s nerves, she stunned at the event that was held at the Top of the Garden event space in midtown Manhattan. The 46-year-old singer concluded the collection in a curve hugging red gown, which she explained, “was made for Latinas.” In addition to the gown’s eye-popping color, the bodice was intricately bedded with a feather waist height belt, and finally cascaded down into a stunning mermaid style train, that Trevi sensually maneuvered with two golden chains wrapped around her wrists. Sanchez stated, “I tried to bring a touch of India with the silver ornaments and other details.”

Sanchez, is an emerging Latin designer, who launched his self-titled collection “Adolfo Sanchez” six years ago, first worked with Trevi when designing her costume for her most recent music video “Habla Blah Blah” with rapper Shy Carter. Sanchez designed the Mexican pop star a custom corset and skirt that she sported in the introduction of the music video. The designer admitted that Trevi accepting his invitation was a genuine honor, “She’s a very strong person, and despite everything people say, she keeps moving ahead, and that’s what I like.”

The Adolfo Sanchez show was just the first of many catwalks for Trevi, who is taking advantage of her time at New York Fashion Week. Trevi has also accepted invites to The Blonds and Falguni & Shane Peacock fashion events, mainly in search of spectacular outfits for her De Película tour. Trevi’s time in New York and on the catwalk will be included in her new reality show “A Toda Gloria” which is set to premiere October 5 on Mun2 network.
