Pitbull, one of the Most Influential Latinos of 2015 according to People En Español, expressed his appreciation after the President of The United States, Barack Obama, mentioned him during his speech in Cuba. “What’s up Obama? Appreciate the shout out. Short steps, long vision equals Cuba Libre, and that is no lie #ObamainCuba,” the Cuban-American rapper wrote on his Twitter account.

Mr. Worldwide is referring to the words President Obama used to address the locals during his first visit to the country, “Particularly as so many Cubans came to America. In Miami or Havana, you can find places to dance cha-cha-cha or the salsa, and eat ropa vieja. People that both of are countries have sung along with, Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, and now listening to reggeaton…Pitbull.”

Obama’s trip to the island marked the first time a sitting U.S. President visited Cuba in 80 years. General director of U.S. affairs at Cuba’s Foreign Ministry, Josefina Vidal, stated: “We are neighbors. Although we might have profound differences, we have many values we share.”

Even though Cuban officials stated they were going to be open to listening to criticism with respect, it was revealed on Wednesday that Granma, a communist newspaper, had censored the President’s speech. They did not respond to a request for comment.

Obama’s speech did not call for a Democratic revolution, nor did it challenge the Castro regime directly on human rights violations. In fact, many criticized the President for walking on eggshells and not taking a more ballsy approach.
