Pretty Little Liars episode 3
Season 5 of "Pretty Little Liars" has been filled with deaths, miraculous returns and of course awesome quotes! Check out the top 10 best lines from Season 5 so far, and find out what they mean for the overall "A"-centric plot! ABC Family

Season 5 of "Pretty Little Liars" is already leaving fans in shock and we are only three episode in! Season 5 has racked up an impressive death killing off two main characters in the currently supposed "A," Shana and the long ago rumored "A," Mrs. DiLaurentis. And while every fan loves an awesome death scene, the burial of a main character and her shallow grave being subsequently discovered by the lone dog on the series, the best part of Season 5, thus far, has been the quotes. The Liars, Alison, and especially the Hastings have been delivering some fabulously ominous lines. And while there have been some admittedly melodramatic lines, many of the quotes from the first 3 episodes of Season 5 have been rather sinister and symbolic. With even more “A” mysteries yet to solve, let’s take a look at the top 10 best quotes from Season 5 of “Pretty Little Liars” and attempt to discover what clues they hold!

“People are capable of all sorts of things under the right pressures. –Melissa Hastings to Spencer in episode 3 “Surfing the Aftershocks.” While fans still don’t know what exactly Melissa is hiding from both her younger sister and her mother, it is obvious that the secret not only effects the Hastings family and the DiLaurentis family. Considering Mr. Hastings and Mrs. DiLaurentis’s pervious affair, it’s safe to assume that the secret she is protecting has something to do with their relationship.

Emily: “Coincidences happen. Spencer: “Yeah, all the time. They grow on trees like coconuts just waiting for you to walk under them. The pair react to Ali’s choice of funeral dress in episode 3 “Surfing the Aftershocks,” despite the fact that Spencer rightfully does not believe in coincidence anymore, the significance of Alison choosing to wear the dress her mother to her alleged funeral is most certainly odd, but I’m not yet sure what it implies. Alison seemed genuinely shocked by her father’s angry reaction, and while the teenager is certainly one to scheme, your mother’s funeral may not be the best place for such action. Perhaps the “Pretty Little Liars” show runners are hinting at the possibility of Mrs. DiLaurentis not being dead.

“She’s going to bury the woman who tried to bury her.”—Spencer Hastings to the Liars in episode 3 “Surfing the Aftershocks.” Before Alison’s mother’s mysterious death, she attempted to cover up the murder of her daughter, by burying her alive in their back yard. Alison, though unable to talk or move, was still alive when Mrs. DiLaurentis attempted to put her body to rest in the ground. Mrs. DiLaurentis witnessed Alison’s supposed death and tried to cover it up, and protect her daughter’s “murderer.” However now in Season 5, the tables have seriously turned.

“I don't have to hide, you do. And you're going to wish you stayed dead.— Mona to Alison in episode 2 “Whirly Girly.” Mona and Alison have always have a tumultuous relationship, though Mona may not be the feared uber “A,” she is most certainly “A” force to be reckoned with. And now that Alison has returned to Rosewood, the once nerd turned queen bee of Rosewood High is sure to make Alison pay. But would she actually kill her?

“We can’t go down that rabbit hole again.”Emily to Spencer in episode 2 “Whirly Girly.” The friends had a rather heated conversation outside of Spencer’s home regarding Alison’s kidnapping story, and while I understand Alison’s fear of “A” when she received that text. The Liars need to learn that “honesty is the best policy” they are digging themselves into a deeper hole, and unfortunately despite Emily’s quote they are down the rabbit hole with Alison once again.

“You thought if I got a good night's sleep I'd wake up in Candyland.Aria to Alison in episode 2 “Whirly Girly.” Arai who was responsible for the murder of Shana is still reeling from her death. Despite her act being one of self-defense, Aria cannot shake the guilt she feels from taking someone’s life, despite their status as “A” or not. I think Aria’s spiral will play a huge role in Season 5, she is unstable and emotionally fried, which will most likely make her an easier target for “A.”

“You were needling both our families with that secret, they probably wanted you to shut up.”—Spencer to Alison in episode 2 “Whirly Girly.” Alison knew that her half-brother Jason was not the biological son of her father, Mr. DiLaurentis, instead she discovered the details of her mother’s affair with Spencer’s father, Mr. Hastings. This provided her with the blackmail she needed to not only control her mother, but also Spencer’s father, and her half-brother Jason. To me the significance of this quote is in regards to Alison’s past creeping up on her, like they say, “the past never dies!”

“Where are you in this Spencer? You haven't even said a word. Should I be afraid of our big brother?”—Alison to Spencer in episode 2, Whirly Girly.” Despite growing up as siblings it seem that Spencer and Jason DiLaurentis, who only recently acknowledged that they were blood related have a closer bond the one he shares with Alison. While Spencer vehemently denies Jason’s ability for violence, Alison considers it, I think Season 5 will reveal more secrets about the sibling’s relationship in the past.

“I've been dreaming about this moment for a long time, sleeping in my own bed.” –Alison to Mr. DiLaurentis in episode 2 “Whirly Girly.” This seems to be one of the few genuine quotes from Alison in maybe the entire series. While normally having a reason, or motivation behind every action and spoken word, it seemed like Alison actually allowed herself to be vulnerable with her father upon returning to Rosewood which was refreshing for fans to watch.

“He wants to win you back. Does he have a chance?”Alison to Aria in episode 1 “EscApe From New York.” The pair who have both dated Ezra (awkward) are discussing the possibility of Aria forgiving Ezra and getting back into a relationship with him. I find Ali’s curiosity interesting, why would she be so invested in the pair’s relationship? Alison doesn’t do many things without a reason, and I think her pushing Ezra on Aria is more about herself then the intended happiness of her friend and ex.
