Prince Harry was born to a royal family, so he’s instantly rich and famous. However, it seems that Princess Diana’s youngest son is not enjoying his royal life at all.

Royal biographer Angela Levin interviewed the prince in Kensington Palace over a year ago, but she only published the article last week on The Telegraph. She revealed some things that the 34-year-old royal had told her, and it was shocking yet interesting.

Levin and Prince Harry talked about the distinction between celebrity and royalty, and he said that they may be royals but definitely not celebrities. He also confessed that they also sometimes feel that they don’t really want to be born into such family, but then they don’t have any choice.

“If you’re born into the Royal family, as we were, I think it’s normal to feel as though you don’t really want it,” Prince Harry told Levin. “They (those who have sought fame) have a natural talent. We don’t. We don’t want to be just a bunch of celebrities but instead use our role for good. It’s a narrow line between the two, but I am not going to cross it and go down the celebrity route.”

The prince clearly admitted that there are times when living as a royal is not something that they really want. Even if they have access to luxuries and can easily make friends or connect with famous people, being part of the royal family entails a lot. Thus, they may not like it at some point.

The reason why Prince Harry feels this way is because, for most members of the royal family, they may be living a privileged life, but the public is constantly watching their every move and the press is always on a standby for juicy news about them. Most of all, they must maintain certain levels of public approval; otherwise, there will be a deluge of criticisms coming their way.

The public is always quick to point out their flaws, so they should always be careful not to offend the masses in any way. But this is hard for the royal family because people have formed certain standards on how the royals should act and behave.

An example is the highly private christening of Archie Harrison. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle insisted on keeping their son’s godparents’ identities a secret. They also banned photographers from taking photos of the event, and the public found these actions offensive.

The people insisted that they should know every detail of the baptism, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stood firm with their decision for the occasion to be private. They were bashed heavily because of this.

Levin stated that this is the reality when it comes to being a royal, so it’s understandable why Prince Harry told her many times that he wants to be “ordinary.” He simply hates being stuck in the “goldfish bowl” of royal life.
