Cedric the Entertainer might have made jokes about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Buckingham Palace. But, given the bummer his skits turned out to be, the joke catapulted back to him.

The popular show host is clearly not a fan of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and he made it known over the weekend. The 73rd Annual Emmy Awards host took a dig at the royal couple and their public outcries as he entertained over 500 celebrity guests at the star-studded do in downtown Los Angeles Sunday, Daily Star reported.

“As great as The Crown is, it pales in comparison to the real monarchy,” quipped the 57-year-old, adding, “I mean that Oprah interview with Prince Harry and Meghan. That was the real tea right there, wasn’t it?”

And it didn’t stop at that, as Cedric was clearly prepared to roast Harry and Meghan for myriad reasons, one of which included the mum-of-two’s claims of little Archie being subjected to racism. He further joked that the child would be needed to teach the royals how to dance, while the cast of "The Crown" looked on sheepishly.

The Oprah interview, which garnered over 49 million viewership in a span of three days since its airing, had Harry lambast his family, more particularly his father Prince Charles for “not picking his calls” and cutting him off financially. Meghan added that Buckingham Palace downplayed her suicidal thoughts, and need for mental help when she was allegedly at her lowest.

While the British Royal Family was clearly on Cedric’s radar, the show host also took a jab at Nicki Minaj who was recently embroiled in a Twitter storm for making sweeping statements about a cousin’s friend becoming ‘impotent’ after taking the jab. Cedric averred how the guests at the luxe event had to be double-vaxxed in order to enter and made bizarre comparisons of vaccines to departmental stores.

According to The Sun, a volley of users made their disappointment known, and posted how the host’s “bad” jokes were clearly “painful to watch”. While Cedric clearly tried, it did make the cut. Some of the trolls that followed claimed how they didn’t find the host to be really entertaining, and that he was sinking faster than the Titanic.
