In life, everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone is forgiven. Within the royal family, it’s hard to commit blunders or get caught red-handed because a member who dares to do so is instantly convicted in the court of public opinion — and much more by the fellow members themselves, just like in the case of Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew.

The Duchess of York was involved in a scandal in 1992, when she was papped with another man — who was not Andrew — “seemingly” sucking her toe. This happened shortly after their separation.

In some ways, Fergie was considered a pariah by the others. Prince Philip thought she was a “disgrace” when the photo made the front page of broadsheets, and the Queen herself kept her distance when the duchess publicly announced their divorce, information that Her Majesty wanted to remain a secret.

Fergie and Andrew became close friends, especially for the sake of their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie. But it’s the Yorks’ relatives who can’t get over. At Philip’s request, Fergie wasn’t invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding in 2011.

Seven years later, however, the tide turned when Queen Elizabeth had a change of heart and invited her to the awaiting wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. “Her Majesty knew me from a little naughty age 10 … I can’t thank Her Majesty enough for being so steadfast to me,” Fergie gushed on “Good Morning Britain.”

Harry himself was very vocal about giving her a second chance, being someone who has had a fair share of controversies and scandals himself while he was still a bachelor. “He believes that everybody ought to forgive and overlook the previous, and he’s keen to do this,” a source claimed.

Many onlookers and followers of the royal family thought she was making her way up back again, but there was no follow-up. Apparently, all’s well doesn’t really end well, if an insider’s scoop to Daily Mail is to be believed. “He just can’t see why she is still such a big part of his brother’s life,” the source revealed, referring to what Prince Charles thinks of Fergie.
