Queen Elizabeth II is supposed to treat every member of her staff equally. But, according to a royal commentator, she has developed a “special friendship” with one member of the staff, which has led to some “jealousy” among the others.

According to royal commentator Angela Mollard, the Queen has developed a bond with her dressmaker Angela Kelly. The staff member is like “another sister” to the British royal, Express reported. The monarch’s sister Princess Margaret died in 2002.

Why is the Queen so found of her dressmaker? Kelly isn’t sure either. However, in 2007 she said that discussions between her and the monarch are like that of two “typical women,” and they discuss things like clothes, makeup, and jewelry.

“ We say would this piece of jewellery look ice with that outfit and things like that,” Kelly had said.

The Queen is so found of her dressmaker that she even gave her permission to write a book about their friendship. Even in the palace, there is apparently a code among the staff about whenever the monarch goes out; it is generally to have a chat with Kelly.

The two women are often heard sitting in a room and laughing while having the Queen’s favourite Darjeeling tea. The monarch also visits Kelly in her home in Windsor, which was given to her as a gift by the sovereign.

This special friendship has led to the staff feeling jealous, Kelly has admitted. The dressmaker once jokingly said that she doesn’t have any more room for knives in her back.

The Queen, however, appears to be friendly with all the staff members in the palace, and she is friendly even with the staff who come in from the outside to get small work done. There was once an occasion when she served tea to a builder when he was busy with work and didn’t even realize who had given him tea until he saw her leave the room, Express reported.
