Liga MX action kicks off again on Friday evening, Oct. 18 at La Corregidora when León hosts the Gallos Blancos of Querétaro at 8:30pm EST. After the 2014 World Cup qualifiers occasioned a couple-week-long break in play, teams are heading back to the field to attempt a return to good form -- or, in the case of Querétaro, recapture some of the old magic they were showing earlier in the season. Querétaro needs to add three points to hold onto the eighth and final playoff spot, four games before the regular season comes to a close. They've managed 19 points in 13 games, with five victories, four ties and four losses. But in their last three showings, they've slumped, managing just one point. They dropped their visit to Toluca 4-0, tied at home against the Tigres 2-2, and fell in the last game against Tijuana 1-0 on the road in the Estadio Caliente. As for that last playoff spot, they're holding onto it for dear life: out of all the other teams who would qualify for the playoffs if it were held tomorrow, Querétaro has the least goals (16), with an average of 1.2 goals knocked in each weekend.

León, on the other hand, are expected to be strong contenders when the playoffs come around, as their play has been consistently stellar in the Apertura. They're currently in second place with 25 points, six points back from América. The Panzas Verdes aren't big scorers either -- they've only notched 17 so far this season, one more than their Friday night rivals -- but their defense has been the second-best in the league, with just nine knocked in against them. They've struck gold with a smart, conservative style of play, making few errors and allowing little on their side of the pitch. Eight of their thirteen games this year have ended with a total of two goals or less.

The Panzas Verdes have captured five out of their last six games for this season of the Liga MX, with their only losses coming in a tough road trip to Cruz Azul and, a bit more surprisingly, at home against the Jaguares de Chiapas.
