“Riverdale” season 5 will see the return of a musical group, the Pussycats, in Chapter Ninety-One.

Titled “Return of the Pussycats, “Riverdale” fans get to see some familiar faces back in the fold. That includes Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), Valerie Brown (Hayley Law), and Melody Valentine (Asha Bromfield).

Photos showing their return have made their rounds online, a sign that more musical numbers from the band and perhaps other cast members are happening soon. This is tied to the planned annual musical episodes that showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, TV Line reported.

Tied to this, it sheds more light on what to expect from Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan). Despite being pregnant in real life, Morgan will have an active role in the two-part musical-themed episodes.

She will be performing alongside Tabitha Tate (Erinn Westbrook) and special visitor Alexandra Cabot (Camille Hyde). Hyde last appeared in the now-canceled “Katy Keene” spinoff.

Also tied to that, Aguirre-Sacasa also teased crossovers from “Katy Keene” and the “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”

"That's a really good question and I will tell you that we [have] had a lot of conversations about figuring out a way to bring characters from Katy Keene to Riverdale and from Sabrina to Riverdale," Aguirre-Sacasa said in February this year.

Regardless, the focus of attention right now is the return of Josie McCoy after a long while. She makes a surprise return to Riverdale and this leads to her reuniting with her former bandmates, Valerie and Melody. The true reason behind her decision to return will be revealed here.

Aside from that, another thing to look forward to is seeing Veronica Lodge (Camilla Mendes) getting a surprise visit from Alexandra Cabot. Also, Toni Topaz enters the fray to help Tabitha Tate and Veronica land a deal.

This and more happen on Sept. 8 when “Riverdale” Chapter Ninety-One: Return of the Pussycats airs on The CW.
