One member of the British royal family has been described as “very sulky” and “bad-tempered.” And a royal expert has confirmed that it’s not Prince Charles or Prince Philip.

In the Channel 4 documentary “The Real Princess Anne,” former Washington reporter Joe Billington talked about the Princess Royal’s demeanor. He said that while Princess Anne was on tour after being invited by former President Richard Nixon, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II gave out the impression that she didn’t want to be in Washington.

“Helen Thomas, very respected journalist, said ‘Princess Anne, what do you think of the Washington Monument?’” he recounted. “And instead of saying ‘very tall’... she could have answered in two simple words, she said ‘I don’t do interviews.’”

Immediately after the tour, Princess Anne made headlines on various newspapers but for all the wrong reasons. The royal was called out for her bad attitude, and she was criticized by reporters. But it has also been revealed that the British press was seemingly more forgiving toward her.

“Later, at Mount Vernon, once the home of George Washington, the princess’ attitude again aroused American comment,” the radio journalist said. “There were some, however, that were prepared to believe that after the strenuous 10-day tour of Canada, the princess may have been tired, rather than bored,” the journalist added.

Prince Charles also joined Princess Anne during their royal tour to Washington. As such, the future king’s demeanor and relationship with the press was compared with that of his younger sister.

Royal biographer Kitty Kelley said that Princess Anne managed to make Prince Charles look good during their tour because he was far more agreeable toward the press. In her book “The Royals,” Kelley also revealed how Prince Charles answered the majority of the questions thrown at him during the tour.

Princess Anne, on the other hand, refused to respond to reporters. “He smiled for photographers, she swatted them like nasty flies,” Kelley said.

Prince Charles and Princess Anne may have grown up together, but they couldn’t be more different from each other. And according to a royal expert, they are not close either.
