When it comes to her family, Colombian singer Shakira plays no games when it comes to protecting the home front. After rumors started spreading that the star is tending to family issues, more specifically her sick son, the singer went into a fury.

According to People, the singer has taken to social media to set the record straight. While the rumors began after the star canceled her Latin GRAMMYs and American Music Awards appearances, the star is ready to shut it all down and focus on her family and career.

"Due to personal matters, I won't be able to travel to Las Vegas & LA to attend the @LatinGRAMMYs or the @AMAs this year," she tweeted. "I will be accompanying @carlosvives in spirit @LatinGRAMMYs, celebrating this incredible year that we've shared together with #LaBicicleta," the star posted to Twitter.

There was no inclination that her son was battling a major disease but I guess with the broad statement, it made room for speculation and of course rumors to rise.

While it is true that Shakira's son Sasha was feeling slightly ill, its not as serious as the media played it out to be.

"Thanks for all the messages you sent for Sasha while he was sick. Everything is under control now, and he's back to his cheerful self!" Shakira said while posting a photo of her and her son on Instagram.

While the statement has put the rumors to rest, who would think that something tragic would be going on in within the singer's family life. The singer has still yet to reveal what caused her son Sasha to fall ill.

Later in the day, she posted a photo of Sasha playing with his big brother Milan — who will celebrate his fourth birthday on January 22.
