Fox confirms "Sleepy Hollow" will return for a fourth season next fall, but the way season three ended iy will be interesting to see what will happen to the main character, reported Den of Geek. If you have yet to watch the season three finale, stop reading now as there are spoilers ahead. In the shocking season three finale, titled "Ragnarok," Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) sacrificed her life to the Pandora's box.

On Friday, Fox officially announced "Sleepy Hollow" will return for a fourth season giving Sleepyheads a chance to get the season they wanted. At the time of the finale, showrunner Clifton Campbell told TVLine that Beharie "will not return to the show as Abbie Mills," but added that there was a "possibility" that "reflections of her will be around."

It is worth noting that Abbie was not randomly written off the series for shock value. The actress no longer wanted to be on the show and was nearly written off in the midseason finale, "Novus Ordo Seclorum." However, the network decided to wait. Aside from Beharie's exit, it looks like Nikki Reed will not be reprising her role as Betsy Ross in the upcoming season of "Sleepy Hollow."

So far, the fourth season cast list confirmed by Fox on Friday includes Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane, Lyndie Greenwood as Jennifer "Jenny" Mills, Lance Gross as FBI agent Daniel Reynolds and Jessica Camacho FBI Agent Sophie Foster.

As of now, there is no word yet on how many episodes the fourth season will include.

However, we do at least have an idea of what the plotline will be when the fourth season premieres. If you recall in the season three finale, Abbie's father arrives to explain to Ichabod that there must always be two witnesses. And although Abbie has died and moved on from this world, he must find the new witness before "they" do.
