The all-new Subaru performance concept car debuted at the 2013 New York Auto Show on Thursday, March 28.

Images of the new concept just leaked days ahead of the show, causing a massive amount of buzz among hardcore Subaru and rally motorsport enthusiasts alike. While Subaru has refrained from calling the new concept a next-generation WRX ahead of the show, its design and performance intent points to nothing else.

The new Subaru WRX Concept features significant design cues that harkens back to Subaru's illustrious rally history, including its bold World Rally Blue paint job with highlighter yellow accents. The sleek design also features a sharp hood scoop as well as an aggressive stance.

Despite the effective design, the WRX is missing the signature gold BBS rims and gigantic rally spoiler. Subaru will likely add the goodies later on for the production WRX and STI.

Other designs seen on the Subaru WRX include a larger and bolder grille design and a powerbulge behind the turbo scoop to fit the intercooler. What's more, a carbon fiber roof, similar to the BMW M3 Coupe, will also help to improve the center of gravity and reduce weight for the WRX Concept.

The power output of the latest WRX Concept has not been revealed but industry observers believe the WRX will likely offer between 275 to 300 hp from a turbocharged boxer-four engine.
