Early last week it was revealed "Teen Wolf" alum Tyler Hoechlin would be joining the second season of The CW's "Supergirl" as the Man of Steel, Superman.

Now, Hoechlin has opened up about putting on the iconic red cape for the series. The actor told The Daily Mail, "I never try to compare and contrast performances because it's such an iconic character already... I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world. I'm just excited to find out Clark's sense of humor."

In a statement, "Supergirl" showrunner Andrew Kreisberg noted that casting Hoechlin in the role was a long time coming.

"[Executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman," he said. "We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character."

It was only a matter of time before the Man of Steel made an appearance on the show as the character has been alluded too many times. Plus Kara (Melissa Benoist) has communicated with the hero and even visited his Fortress of Solitude in an episode.

"Greg, Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of 'Supergirl,'" Kreisberg said in a statement. "Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!"

Although "Supergirl" takes place in an alternate universe to the other CW superhero shows, the prospect of Superman interacting with Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and the heroes on "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" is very real.

It has already been announced that "Arrow," "The Flash," "Supergirl" and "Legends of Tomorrow" will take part in a four-part crossover around midseason and perhaps we will even see Superman make an appearance.

"Supergirl" Season 2 is scheduled to debut on Monday, Oct. 10.
