A 19-year-old girl who has been missing since last month has been finally found. Reported missing since Feb. 27, the body of Jularat Kongkaew of tambon Ban Klang was found at a rubber plantation near Ban Muang Hom in tambon Ban Klang.

A group of investigators and forensic experts were sent to the scene after the Kaeng Sopha police were alerted about the remains of a woman’s body at the plantation. They found charred remains alongside three burned car tires at the scene, the Bangkok Post reported. The body was identified as the body of Kongkaew who left their home on Feb. 26.

When Kongkaew did not return home on Feb. 26, relatives of the 19-year-old reported her as missing. A search was made to find her but to no avail.

Authorities learned that Kongkaew had an 18-year-old boyfriend, a Mathayomsueksa 6 student at a school in the Wang Thong district. The boy, whose identity has yet to be known, surrendered to the police accompanied by family members.

It was revealed by the victim’s mother, Sawi Kunna, that her daughter and the 18-year-old boy left on the afternoon of Feb. 26. According to the boy, he was accompanying Kongkaew to the doctor. The reason behind the medical visit was not detailed.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear with the case still being investigated. The boy is the chief suspect over the death of Jularat Kongkaew and an update should be revealed soon.

Forensic police at the scene in a rubber plantation where the burned remains, believed to be of a missing 19-year-old woman, were found on Tuesday morning, in Wang Thong district, Phitsanulok.
