An underage Indian girl was reportedly held hostage for days and mercilessly raped repeatedly in front of her parents by eight men as spiteful "revenge," all because her brother had eloped with a woman from their family, local authorities reported.

The horrifying incident reportedly happened in Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh state, India.

On Monday, June 28, a day after the victim's brother allegedly eloped with his girlfriend from the brutal clan, the school-going girl and her parents were brought to a house near the Amroha Railway Station by their neighbors on the pretext of searching for the missing couple, the Times of India reported.

Instead, eight men including the missing woman's father, brothers, and uncles allegedly held them against their will at the site before raping the underage girl repeatedly in front of her helpless parents.

A day later, on Tuesday, June 29, the parents were warned that their daughter would be killed if they alerted authorities regarding the assault. They were then told to vacate the abandoned home. However, the minor girl was not allowed to leave. Instead, the predators held her hostage and heinously raped her for the next four days, only releasing her on Sunday, July 4, according to Latestly.

After the girl reached home on July 4, she lodged a complaint at a local police station. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the eight men under sections 376-D (gang-rape), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 354 (attempt to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

They were also charged with relevant sections of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Seven of the accused were named while one remains unidentified and at large. Police are carrying out raids and investigations in search of the last accused.

“The accused are very influential. They can do the same to other girls in our family. We are very scared and want action against them,” the victim's aunt said.

“We registered an FIR after the girl came back home and narrated the ordeal. Both the families knew each other for several years and their relations soured after the elder brother of the survivor eloped with the daughter of the accused,” the Additional Superintendent of Police Vidya Sagar Mishra told the media.

Mishra said that the police will ensure an impartial investigation in the case. He added that multiple investigation teams have been formed to search for the accused and that they are also searching for the missing couple.
